TheCityUK's International Conference 2026, sponsored by Freshfields, will bring together senior leaders from across the financial and related professional services industry, policymakers and regulators to focus on how the UK can assert itself as a world-leading, international financial centre in a new age of global competition.

The panel sessions themes include:

  • Navigating competition among the economic superpowers
How the changing global dynamics are shaping competition for international capital flows and leadership in technology, such as AI and digital infrastructure. What are the implications for the UK as an international financial centre as it seeks to balance engagement with the US, EU, and China and deepen its engagement with mid-sized economies and emerging markets.
  • Collaborating with leading international financial centres
This session brings perspectives from other major international financial centres worldwide, such as those in Asia, Europe, and the Middle East, highlighting the importance of collaboration and shared priorities in a rapidly changing world. It examines how the UK can collaborate with these centres, including shaping rules on shared priorities like digital assets and sustainable finance.
  • Redefining the UK’s Value Proposition
How can the UK continue to position its strengths in risk and investment management, innovation and sustainable finance to capture global market share? Where can the UK improve its ability to attract global talent and investment in innovation and technology to ensure its continued success?
