At Sibos 2025 in Frankfurt, the World Alliance brought together global leaders to discuss how financial centers are uniting against financial crime — leveraging collaboration, regulation, and technology to protect trust in global markets.

The World Alliance of International Financial Centers hosted a high-level panel discussion at Sibos 2025 in Frankfurt, focusing on the crucial theme: “How international financial centers combat financial crime, and why this matters.”

The session brought together leading voices from across the WAIFC network to discuss how collaboration, innovation, and sound regulation are shaping the global response to financial crime.

The distinguished panel included Hubertus Väth, Managing Director of Frankfurt Main Finance; Pawel Widawski, CEO of Future Finance Poland; and Bernice Buttigieg, Chief Strategy Officer of FinanceMalta. The discussion was moderated by Dr. Jochen Biedermann, Managing Director of WAIFC.

Panelists explored the increasing importance of RegTech and SupTech solutions, the implications of stablecoins and digital assets, and the need for coordinated action across jurisdictions to enhance market integrity. They emphasized that international financial centers play a pivotal role in promoting transparency, trust, and sustainable growth within the global financial system.
