World Alliance – EU Roundtable Convenes in Frankfurt

Strengthening collaboration on financial crime prevention, cybersecurity, savings, and competitiveness across European financial hubs

The EU Financial Center Roundtable gathered in Frankfurt alongside Sibos 2025, bringing together member financial centers and invited guests for a day of strategic exchanges and joint priorities.

The program began at the Frankfurt Messe, where Anti-Money Laundering and financial integrity were highlighted during the WAIFC panel featuring Bernice Buttigieg, Hubertus Väth, and Pawel Widawski, moderated by Dr. Jochen Biedermann.

Following the session, EU Roundtable members transferred to the headquarters of Frankfurt Main Finance for a dedicated working meeting. Discussions were structured around the key challenges and priorities shared by European financial centers:

Anti-Financial Crime and regulatory alignment
Cybersecurity cooperation
Competitiveness within the EU and globally
The Savings and Investment Union
Open Finance and the EU Digital Finance Architecture (EU FiDA)

Members also addressed institutional continuity with the election of the new Roundtable Speaker for 2026.

The meeting demonstrated the evolution of cross-border dialogue among EU financial centers and highlighted the need for coordinated strategies in an increasingly competitive and regulated environment. A productive working lunch allowed further bilateral exchanges and updateson national initiatives.

The Roundtable concluded with a clear commitment to deepening joint action on innovation, resilience, and EU-wide collaboration.
