EU Roundtable of Financial Centers meeting in Brussels
The EU Roundtable of Financial Centers and Federations, a WAIFC regional chapter, convened in Brussels on November 6 and 7 for its second meeting of the year.
The Roundtable members welcomed Fin.Connect.NRW as a new member. Members also exchanged views on significant developments and discussed key priorities for all Roundtable members for 2024-2025.
The Roundtable addressed issues related to securitization in the EU, ongoing challenges, and strategies for jointly communicating the importance of a well-functioning securitization framework to finance the energy transition. Additionally, members discussed the current status of the EU Capital Markets Union (CMU) and advocacy for the Retail Investment Package.
Concerns about the competitiveness of the EU economy and financial sector, as well as effective ways to nurture innovation, were major discussion points among the Roundtable members.
Finally, the Roundtable elected Pawel Widawski, President of Future Finance Poland, as its new speaker. His term will begin on January 1, 2025, and he will host the Roundtable in Warsaw for its first meeting of the year.
The Roundtable thanked Pawel for his willingness to assume the speaker role, expressed gratitude to outgoing speaker Gert Heynderickx, and extended their appreciation to the entire Febelfin team for hosting the 2024 meetings.
